Anthropology is a social science that involves the study of humans and their cultures which exist today and in the past. The program at Franklin Pierce has strong cultural anthropological and archaeological curricula. Cultural anthropologists describe, compare, and analyze cultures, while archaeologists study the material remains of cultures.

News from the Archeaology / Anthropology Department
Dr. Robert Goodby, associate professor of anthropology at Franklin Pierce University, was featured in the Boston Globe for his discovery of a centuries-old Native American Fort that could have been threatened by residential development. Read the story. Professor Goodby has led students on archeaological digs in the communities near Franklin Pierce, which are rich in Native American and Colonial history.
Franklin Pierce students are seriously committed to anthropology and archaeology. They provided the impetus for starting New Hampshire's first chapter of Lambda Alpha, the National Anthropology Honors Society (pictured below).
