Students can get involved in The Pierce Media Group. The Pierce Media Group includes the campus newspaper, TV station, and radio station.
The Pierce Arrow
The Pierce Arrow is a student-run newspaper which reports on campus and community issues and events. The paper is published twice a month while school is in session. Students serve as writers, Editor in Chief, and section editors for: Layout, News, Features, Sports, Arts and Entertainment, Photography, and Advertising.
New writers are always welcome! If interested please come to our twice monthly staff meetings and volunteer a concept for a story, or request a story assignment. Members do not have to be Mass Comm. majors to join -- all members of the FP community are welcome to participate.
The Pierce Arrow's advisor is Kristen Nevious, Director of the Fitzwater Center.
The student-run TV station produces and cablecasts to the campus a diverse range of programming, including: Roommatez, Bullseye, The Boot, and the weekly newscast. Students serve as members, producers, Station Manager, and as Executive Board members. There are 7 main departments: Commercials, Film and Entertainment, News, Online, Programming, Sports, and Technical Operations. Programming for the station runs 24-7.
New members are always welcome! Training sessions for new members are held at the beginning of each semester. New members are always needed to crew on shows, and also have the opportunity to create their own shows. Members do not have to be Mass Comm. majors to join -- all members of the FP community are welcome to participate.
The TV station's advisor is Heather Weibel Tullio, Associate Professor of Mass Communication.
