Open House - Saturday, April 20

Rindge Hall
The next Open House for prospective students and their parents is just a few days away on this Saturday, April 20!  Please help spread the word to your circle of friends, neighbors, and co-workers who might be interested in learning more about what Franklin Pierce has to offer.

If someone you know is interested in Franklin Pierce University, but cannot make it to the Open House, they can easily set up a guided tour by contacting our Admissions office at 800-437-0048.

Word of mouth is a powerful tool for helping us recruit new students.  We appreciate your help!

Why LinkedIn Is Important

LinkedIn Pic

LinkedIn is a valuable online resource for college students of all classes and majors because of the opportunities it offers for career research, networking and job searching.  Networking is still considered to be one of the most effective job search tools and LinkedIn enables students to tap into a worldwide network of potential contacts. This professional social networking platform has a student portal that offers suggestions and guidelines to assist even first time users in creating a profile and using the networking resources effectively.  Some of the ways that students can use LinkedIn include:

  • Creating a professional profile to highlight education, experience and accomplishments
  • Connecting with professionals working in their field
  • Connecting with alumni
  • Conducting company research
  • Getting email job alerts
  • Letting employers find them
  • Joining groups related to their field or major
  • Getting recommendations and endorsements
  • Staying in touch with faculty, former supervisors and co-workers
Career Services encourages students to join the FPU Alumni & Student Career Network group on LinkedIn to connect with alumni who are available to share their stories and offer advice and tips to undergraduates as they research careers or conduct an internship or job search.

Peer Tutor Presentations

Students in Library
On Saturday, April 6th, four Franklin Pierce University Peer Tutors presented three sessions to fellow student tutors  at the New England Peer Tutoring Association's  (NEPTA) 19th annual conference at Nichols College in Dudley, Mass.  Jenn Cartier, Brennan Whalen, Dan Champigny, and Gerome Gepigon represented Franklin Pierce University's tutoring program in their sessions entitled "Search for CLUES.  Find the answers.  Solve the mystery."

These interactive presentations focused on identifying the clues and cues of poor study habits, memorization versus contextual skills, and identifying and dealing with learning differences during a tutoring session.  Their sessions were very well attended by Peer Tutors and administrators (40-50 attendees) from other New England colleges and universities.  All four of the presenters received rave reviews about their creativity, presentation skills, and interactive process of getting everyone involved.  Moe Baptiste and Patti Vorfeld as well as the rest of the Center for Academic Excellence staff are very proud of their student tutor presenters.
