Presentation Title: "Piano and Violin"

Abstract:

This performance piece of instrumental works will explore the musical expression of early 17th century classical and late romantic composers. The works of Ludwig Van Beethoven, Franz Schubert, Dmitri Shostakovich, and Johann Pachelbel will be performed. The concentration of music will be on their piano and violin works Shostakovich's Waltz no.2 suite for Variety Orchestra, Beethoven's Minuet in G major, Schubert's Serenade, and Pachelbel's Canon in D. Each of the respective composers' musical pieces will be performed and summarized during the showcase. The play time for music is estimated to be 10-15 minutes in length. There will be an overview and analysis of each musical piece explained. Questions about the music made by the composer will be asked and answered, questions such as what the intention of the piece and the reason it was written. The entire presentation should last no longer than 30 minutes with playtime and summarized overview included.
