Franklin Pierce University Board of Trustees Announces New Members

The Board of Trustees of Franklin Pierce University announces the appointment of two new members who bring both professional expertise and deep connections as alumni: Carol Houle ’97 and Jonathan Slavin ’92.

“These two accomplished individuals will bring insights, experience and passion for the mission of the University to our Board,” said Board of Trustees Chair Steven Camerino. “We are looking forward to having Carol and Jon join us as trustees, and are confident their knowledge and experience will help the Board in its role in overseeing and guiding the University.”

Carol HouleCarol L. Houle, CPA of Salem, NH has served as Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President of Provident Bankcorp, Inc. since September 2013. In her role at the Bank she provides strategic direction and leadership to drive the financial success of The Provident Bank. Previously, she was a partner at Shatswell, MacLeod & Company, providing professional external audit and consulting services to financial institutions. Ms. Houle earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Franklin Pierce University (then Franklin Pierce College) in 1997 with a major in Business Administration (Accounting), while working as a staff accountant at T. C. Edwards & Co.

Jonathan SlavinJonathan Slavin of Fairfield, CT is the Global Head of Equity Trading at Morgan Stanley Investment Management in New York City. Previously, he was Head of U.S. Equities, Cash and Derivatives Trading at PIMCO, and before that, Senior Trader at George Weiss Associates. Mr. Slavin served in the United States Army as an infantry soldier from 1992-1996. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Economics cum laude from Franklin Pierce in 1992, and later attended Harvard University, where he completed coursework toward a master’s degree in East European Studies as well as completing a professional program on negotiation. Mr. Slavin is currently a board member for CT Challenge/Mission, an organization promoting wellness and rehabilitation programs for cancer survivors, and he mentors inner city students applying to college through his participation in Harlem Educational Activities Fund.
