Arizona Alumni Help Feed the Need to Read

Franklin Pierce alumni in Arizona are invited to participate in an Arizona Book Drive for Children to celebrate the inauguration of the university’s new president Dr. James Birge. Arizona’s Community Service Project will be coordinated by Bill Jabjiniak, a Franklin Pierce alumnus (1986), and Director of Economic Development for the City of Mesa, Ariz.
Franklin Pierce alumni may participate by donating new or gently-used books for children in grades K-5. Books may be collected during the month of April and delivered April 26-29, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to either Franklin Pierce Campus in Goodyear, 140 N. Litchfield Road, Ste 110 (contact Assistant Dean, Andrea Brode at email@example.com or call 623.518.2386) or to the City of Mesa Economic Development, 20 E. Main Street, Suite 200. Contact your local libraries, book stores, neighbors, friends and family to donate books.

The Book Drive beneficiary, Longfellow Elementary in Mesa, is located in Councilmember Kavanaugh’s district.
The goal is to collect 2,700 books – or the number of miles between Franklin Pierce Rindge Campus, N.H. and the Campus Center West Valley, Ariz. - by May 1, 2010, for summer reading programs at Longfellow Elementary, a Reading is Fundamental school and Mesa’s Community Spirit Adopt-A-School partner for 2010.
